27 things I learnt in 27 years
I am almost 30, yikes! I remember celebrating my 21st birthday a few years ago and now I am looking forward to my 28th. Life has taught me so many lessons. Every day , every week, every year I continue to grow and learn more. I am proud of myself on how far I’ve come, the things I have achieved, and I am excited to do more and learn more. These 27 years have been amazing, hard, difficult and fulfilling all in one. Here are 27 life lessons I’ve learnt in my 27 years.
5 Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Comparison. We all have done it atleast once or twice in our lives. Admit it. Whether if it’s that one friend who you think is perfect or your boyfriend’s ex girlfriend who he can’t seem to stop talking about, a sibling who seems to be your parent’s favourite, or whoever that person is we all have that one person we like to compare ourselves to. It starts out innocent at first and then eventually, if we don’t kick that habit we become obsessed and watch their every move, their every social media posts, then the hate comes, and the rest is history.

Your life isn't going well... blame your damn self
Did you know that you have all that you need to change your life? Let me tell you a little story. A long time ago, around the age of 17, I remember feeling stuck. I wasn't sure what I wanted in life and it felt like all my decisions, my choices, the things I was doing, was to please someone else, namely my parents. I didn't feel like I had any control or felt like I had a say in my own life.
Jamaica Carnival 2017: Queen of Hearts
XODUS: THE QUEEN OF HEARTS…
From the moment I saw the costume I was in love with it. As if the costumes weren’t bomb enough, Xodus social media presence and website totally persuaded my choice to actually participate in Jamaica Carnival 2017. Check out their site here. The process to purchase the costume was simple. You could either purchase through the site, make a deposit to their bank account or go into their office. They also had samples of the costumes on display for you to choose. Costumes ranged from $450 USD - 1200 $USD and it was dependent on the accessories you wanted for your costumes, for example the type of backpacks, etc.
The old me vs the new me
Back in the day I was super shy. I was always the “quiet” one in whatever group of friends I found myself in. It wasn’t that I didn’t have anything to say, because I did. I was just afraid that the people around me wouldn’t want to hear it. This behaviour followed me into my work life and relationships. If I could go back in time, 10 years ago and tell my 17 years old self a few things.....

Working hard is something you take great pride in, but without any rest, you’re only setting yourself up to be tired and burned out over time. While being productive is great, if you don’t take regular breaks, your mind and body can reach exhaustion and not be able to come up with new ideas. That is not conducive to running a business from home. To do a reset, mentally and physically, consider taking a weekend away and heading to the water. Whether it’s a boat ride, paddling, or another activity you enjoy, these types of activities can help you feel happier and centered.
