After spending a week exploring Cancun, Tulum, Valladolid and the Yucatán Peninsula, I put together this complete itinerary so you can simply copy my trip.

Why Visit Mexico?
Mexico is one of those destinations that gives you a little bit of everything. You get beautiful beaches, amazing food, rich culture, nightlife, historical sites, cute photo spots, and relaxing resort experiences all in one trip.
Whether you want to chill by the beach, explore cenotes, visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, or enjoy restaurants and nightlife in Tulum, Mexico is definitely worth adding to your travel list.
My Mexico Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Cancun & Dinner at La Madalena
After landing in Cancun, I headed through immigration, collected my luggage, and made my way to my pre-booked airport transfer. My advice? Don't leave transportation to chance. Having your airport transfer booked before you arrive makes your first day so much smoother, especially after a long flight.
Once I checked into my hotel and had a little time to freshen up, it was time to kick off the trip with dinner at La Madalena, and honestly, it was the perfect way to start my Mexico vacation.
The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere with beautiful décor, great music, incredible cocktails, and a menu full of delicious dishes. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or simply treating yourself, La Madalena is definitely worth adding to your Cancun itinerary.
My Tips for Traveling to Mexico

When booking your flights, you'll usually have two options: direct or connecting.

One thing I'm really glad I did was book my restaurant reservations before arriving in Mexico.
Many of the popular restaurants, especially in Cancun and Tulum, fill up quickly—particularly during weekends and peak travel seasons.

Day 2: Adventure at Xplor Park
If you're looking for an adrenaline-filled day in Mexico, Xplor Park is a must-visit. This all-inclusive adventure park is packed with exciting activities that let you experience the natural beauty of the Riviera Maya in a completely different way.
From soaring through the jungle on zip lines to driving amphibious vehicles through caves and forest trails, every activity feels like an adventure. One of my favourite experiences was exploring the underground rivers and caves—they're unlike anything I've experienced before.
The best part? Your admission includes unlimited access to the activities, a buffet lunch, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day, making it well worth the price.

Get there when the park opens to enjoy the attractions before the crowds build up.
Wear Water Shoes
You'll be in and out of the water throughout the day. Comfortable water shoes with good grip make a huge difference.
Bring a Change of Clothes
You'll definitely get wet, so pack dry clothes and a towel for the ride back.
Use a Waterproof Phone Pouch
If you're bringing your phone, a waterproof pouch is essential. It lets you capture photos and videos while protecting your device during the water activities.
Don't Skip the Buffet
The food was surprisingly good, and since it's included in your ticket, take advantage of it before heading back out for more adventures.
Rent a Locker
A locker is worth it for keeping your belongings safe while you enjoy the activities hands-free.

Absolutely! If you enjoy adventure, nature, and trying new experiences, Xplor is one of the best excursions you can add to your Mexico itinerary. It offers a full day of excitement and is perfect for couples, groups of friends, or solo travellers looking for something beyond the beach.
Pro Tip: Book your Xplor tickets in advance online, wear lightweight clothing, apply reef-safe sunscreen before you arrive, and prepare for a full day of unforgettable adventure.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Going to Mexico
Here are a few helpful Mexico travel tips:
Book your airport transfer in advance. It saves time and stress.
Have your hotel and return flight information ready for customs.
Carry both cash and card. Some places accept cards, but cash is helpful for tips, taxis, markets, and small vendors.
Bring comfortable shoes. You’ll probably do more walking than you expect.
Stay hydrated. Mexico can get very hot, especially when you’re out exploring.
Get an eSIM or travel data plan. This helps with maps, WhatsApp, bookings, and staying connected.
Plan your outfits. Mexico has so many beautiful places to take photos and videos.
Day 3: Road Trip to Tulum, Checking into Dune Boutique Hotel & Discovering Azulik
After spending the first couple of days in Cancun, it was finally time to head to one of the places I was most excited about—Tulum.
The drive from Cancun to Tulum takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic, and there are a few different ways to make the journey depending on your budget and travel style.
How to Get from Cancun to Tulum
Option 1: ADO Bus (Highly Recommended)
If you're looking for an affordable, comfortable, and reliable option, the ADO Bus is one of the best ways to travel between Cancun and Tulum.
The buses are air-conditioned, have comfortable seating, luggage storage, and even Wi-Fi on some routes.

Pro Tip: Book your tickets online in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, to secure your preferred departure time.
Option 2: Public Transportation (Colectivos)
If you're travelling on a tighter budget, you can also take a colectivo, which is a shared public van commonly used by locals.
While it's much cheaper, it's also less spacious and doesn't offer dedicated luggage storage like the ADO bus.
This option is ideal if you're travelling light and don't mind a more local experience.
Option 3: Private Transfer or Rental Car
If you're travelling with friends or family, renting a car or booking a private transfer can be a convenient option. It gives you the flexibility to stop at beaches, cenotes, or restaurants along the way.
Checking into Dune Boutique Hotel
Once we arrived in Tulum, we checked into the Dune Boutique Hotel, and it was everything you'd imagine from a luxury beachfront stay.
Located right on Tulum Beach, the hotel perfectly blends nature with modern luxury. The rooms are beautifully designed, the atmosphere is peaceful, and stepping out onto the beach each morning feels like something out of a dream.
If you're looking for a hotel that puts you close to restaurants, beach clubs, and nightlife while still offering a relaxing escape, Dune Boutique Hotel is an excellent choice.

Dinner at Azulik Tulum
That evening, we headed to Azulik Tulum for dinner.
If you've spent any time researching Tulum, you've probably come across Azulik. It's one of the most photographed luxury destinations in Mexico, known for its breathtaking architecture, jungle-inspired design, and incredible dining experience.
From the moment you arrive, you can tell this isn't just another restaurant—it's an experience. The candlelit walkways, handcrafted wooden structures, and panoramic jungle views create a magical atmosphere that's unlike anywhere else.
The food, cocktails, and service were all excellent, making it one of the standout dining experiences of the trip.
Tips for Visiting Azulik Tulum
Make a reservation well in advance, especially if you're travelling during peak season.
Dress up—it's the perfect place for beautiful vacation photos.
Arrive before sunset if you want to enjoy the views and capture photos in natural light.
Expect premium pricing; you're paying for both the food and the unique experience.
Day 4: Azulik Uh May & Vesica
After discovering there was a second Azulik location, we knew we had to experience it—and I'm so glad we did. Azulik Uh May was easily one of the highlights of the entire trip.
Unlike the beachfront Azulik in Tulum, Uh May is tucked away in the jungle and feels like stepping into another world. The breathtaking architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and immersive art installations make it a must-visit if you appreciate nature, design, and unique experiences. It's also a dream location for photography and content creation.
After exploring Azulik Uh May, we headed to Vesica, a hidden cenote restaurant and wellness destination surrounded by lush jungle. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of natural flavours, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.
Tips for Visiting Azulik Uh May & Vesica
Book your tickets and reservations in advance, especially during peak travel seasons.
Arrive early to enjoy the space before it gets busy and to capture the best photos.
Wear comfortable shoes, as you'll be walking through natural pathways and uneven surfaces.
Choose light, neutral-coloured outfits—they complement the architecture beautifully and photograph well.
Bring insect repellent, as both locations are surrounded by nature.
Allow plenty of time to explore; this is one of those places you'll want to soak in rather than rush through.
Travel Tip: If you can only choose one unique experience outside of the beaches and nightlife, make it Azulik Uh May. Combined with a meal at Vesica, it makes for an unforgettable day and was easily one of my favourite memories from Mexico.

Day 5: Back to Cancun & A Night at Coco Bongo
We wrapped up our Mexico adventure by heading back to Cancun for one last unforgettable experience—Coco Bongo.
If you're expecting a typical nightclub, think again. Coco Bongo is a high-energy entertainment show featuring incredible acrobatics, live performances, music, special effects, and tributes to some of the world's biggest artists. It's the perfect way to end your trip on a high note.
